Head of Iranian Mines and Mineral Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) Mostafa Mo’azzenzadeh said Monday that the current output of the industry is estimated to be 230,000 tons. Pointing to the slow growth of the industry in Iran, he stated, “However, the number is to reach 180,000 tons this year to corroborate 18% increase in comparison with the same period last year”.
Following the government’s decision to cede aluminum companies to the private sector, Almahdi, Arak and Jajarm companies will be privatized respectively within the next development plan. The sector has recently established three aluminum mills in southern Iran.
Mo’azzenzadeh, who also serves as deputy minister of industry and mines, implied that the world’s daily aluminum production exceeds 80,000 tons. “Therefore, the annual record would attain 29 million tons”. The world output has experienced a 6% growth lately.
The Asian aluminum industry is seen as to be rapidly growing while North America and Europe have just faced reduction in their aluminum output. “China accounts for the lion’s share of the recent growth in the Asian industry”, the official added.
